MỸ GALA 2013

NATION’S FIRST VIETNAMESE-AMERICAN COMMUNITY CENTER TO CELEBRATE 2nd ANNUAL MỸ GALA

BOSTON – August 30, 2013 – Viet-AID, a non-profit organization in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester, will host its second annual gala event to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Vietnamese-American Community Center (Viet-AID Center). Mỹ Gala is the culmination of decades of civic participation by Vietnamese immigrants and refugees who, since 1975, have worked to build a strong and active community in Boston. The gala will be held on October 5, 2013 from 6:00pm to 11:00pm at the IBEW Hall at 256 Freeport St., Boston, MA 02122. Last year, more than 600 people attended this event. Tickets are $100 per person. Special prices are available for students and seniors.

In Vietnamese, America is called Mỹ or beautiful country. The second annual Mỹ Gala “Growing Roots in Our Community” will celebrate how refugees and immigrants have found their American Dream and enhanced the lives of others along the way. It is an American tale of how America continues her great tradition of opening doors to strangers helping them begin new lives. It is a story of new and long-time residents of a city coming together to improve their neighborhood.

Mỹ Gala will be co-chair by Andy Davis, president of Carney Hospital, and James P. Collins III, president of New England Business Partners. This year we will honor Mr. Newell Flather, founder of the Gants Managers Advisors (GMA), and Ms. Nina Hang Nguyen, Esq., of HNN Law Office, PC for their outstanding contributions to the community. Our young leaders will also be recognized. There will be Vietnamese food, live music, and cultural entertainment by diverse talents from our local communities. We expect to have 500 Bostonians attending this exciting event.

The proceeds of the second Mỹ Gala will fund our family and youth initiatives including the After School Program, Summer Camp, Early Education, and Parental Support Services. More information about the event and the work of Viet-AID can be found at http://vietaid.org or by calling 617.822.3717×10.
